Durable Links to Online Resources

This is a guide to creating links to full-text journal articles and e-texts which are part of the electronic collections of AUD Library. Durable links consistently deliver unbroken access to an article, book, or journal provided by AUD Library regardless

Why create durable links?

  • The subscribed databases offer permanent links which are web addresses that remain unchanged over time and are designed to provide stable and reliable access to specific online resources.
  • Adding permanent links to the syllabus or on BlackBoard Learn simplifies the process for students to access the required readings, articles, or other digital resources from various locations.
  • However, “Permanent Links” have to be converted “Durable Links” for students to access the resources on and off campus.
  • Durable links can be used in email, web pages, BlackBoard, Word documents, and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Copyright Notice: To avoid copyright infringement, link to an article/book in your online course/website instead of posting the full text. Providing a URL (internet link) to a work does not constitute reproduction and does not infringe copyright or trigger the requirement of permission or payment.
